Mr. Ibrahim Ahmed Nasir

Mr. Ibrahim Nasir joined MPAO Board in 7th September 2017 as the Chairperson of the Board. He currently holds the post Deputy Country Manager of HSBC Maldives. Mr. Nasir has previously served in the MPAO as board director from 2012 to 2014. He has over 24 years of work experience starting his earlier career in law enforcement. Mr. Nasir was one the members who was initially involved in setting up Maldives Stock Exchange and Maldives Securities Depository. He served later as CEO and Managing Director for both companies before moving on to leading Dhiraagu Initial Public Offering which was one the biggest IPOs in the country at that time.
Mr. Nasir also served at UNDP as trade associate handling trade related portfolio of poverty reduction in the Maldives. He also later served for UNICEF Maldives as Operations Officer playing vital role in downsizing, streamlining and restructuring the organization to accommodate the needs of a modern international organization.
Before taking on his present post of Deputy Country Manager of HSBC Maldives Mr. Nasir worked at the Maldives Monetary Authority as Head of Credit Guarantee Unit. The Unit was created to facilitate SMEs with collateral free loans which he setup and managed.
Mr. Nasir holds a Masters Degree in Political History from Uppsala University in Sweden and a Bachelors Degree in Economical History from Uppsala University in Sweden.
Mr. Ali Shareef

Mr. Ali Shareef joined MPAO Board in February 2015 as a member representing private sector. Mr. Shareef is currently working at Housing Development Corporation (HDC) as the Finance Director. Prior to joining HDC, he worked as the Chief Financial Officer at Housing Development Finance Corporation (HDFC). He joined HDFC Plc in October 2012 after serving 11 years at Ministry of Finance and Treasury, Public Enterprises Monitoring & Evaluation Board. During this period he has gained experience in Budgeting; Strategic Financial Planning; Risk Management; Treasury Management; Assets and liability management; monitoring and evaluation of the Government’s investment.
He has also served as a Board Director in the Boards of Maldives Post Limited and Thilafushi Corporation Limited and member of the Social Health Insurance Scheme Board. He also served as a member of the Privatization Committee from October 2010 until February 2012. Mr. Shareef completed his Bachelor of Arts (Honors) in Accounting offered by the University of Hertfordshire in 2005 and is a member of Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) since 2014.
Mr. Ali Faris Mohamed

Mr. Ali Faris Mohamed joined MPAO Board in November of 2015 as a member representing the private sector. Mr. Faris currently work as a freelance accountant & tax consultant. Prior to serving as a Board Director in the Privatization and Corporatization Board, Mr. Faris worked at Audit Management Unit of Maldives Inland Revenue Authority as an Audit Manager. He has over 7 years’ experience in the field of auditing, book keeping, tax consultancy, filing tax returns and handling several financial accounts of high net worth individuals and businesses in Maldives.
Mr. Faris completed Master of Science in Finance from International Islamic University, Malaysia and his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Lewis-Clark State College, USA. Furthermore, Mr. Faris is a fully qualified member of American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (CPA) since 2013, and QuickBooks Certified User by Intuit, USA and a licensed investment adviser for Capital Market Development Authority and a licensed tax agent for Maldives Inland Revenue Authority.
Ms. Fathmath Muaza

Ms. Fathmath Muaza joined MPAO Board in October of 2015 as a member representing the private sector. Ms. Muaza currently works at Crown Company Pvt Ltd as the Business Development Manager of the company. Prior to joining Crown Company Pvt Ltd in June of 2015, Ms. Muaza worked at the Ministry of Finance & Treasury at the Public Enterprises Monitoring & Evaluation Board (PEMEB) for over 7 years, where her responsibilities included among other things, regular monitoring of performance of State Owned Enterprises (SoEs), formation, restructuring and liquidation of SoEs and evaluation of investment decisions by the Government in delivering state mandates through SoEs. Ms. Muaza was the CEO of PEMEB when she resigned in 2013 to join Male’ Water & Sewerage Company Pvt Ltd in 2013, where she served for 2 over years.
During her tenure at the Ministry of Finance & Treasury, Ms. Muaza served on the Board of HDFC Plc, served as a member of the Privatization Committee under the President’s Office and represented the Government in the Board of Addu International Airport Pvt Ltd.
Ms. Muaza completed her Bachelors’ Degree in Business Studies and read her MSc in International Management at the University of Bath, UK.
Mr. Ilyas Haneef

Mr. Ilyas joined MPAO Board in April 2017 as a member representing the private sector. He is currently working as a senior staff member of Villa Shipping & Trading Company Pvt Ltd mainly handling Finance and Taxation matters.
With several years of experience in public and private sector organizations of the Maldives, Mr. Ilyas further specializes in public finance, corporate finance, taxation, accounting as well as organizational management roles. Prior to joining the private sector he has worked in public sector organizations including Maldives Inland Revenue Authority, Maldives Customs Service and the Ministry of Tourism. He is currently serving on the boards of Maldives Stock Exchange and Maldives Securities Depository since 2014.
Mr. Ilyas is a licensed tax agent for Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) and is also a member of the Finance Commission of the Maldives Red Crescent (MRC). He completed Master of Taxation Studies (Honors) from University of Auckland (New Zealand) and Bachelor of Accounting (Honors) from International Islamic University Malaysia.
Public Sector Representatives
Mr. Muznee Mohamed

Mr. Muznee Mohamed joined MPAO Board in February 2014 as a Senior Member from the Securities Market Regulation sector. Mr. Muznee holds the post of Director General at the Capital Market Development Authority. He is currently the Head of Pension Supervision Department and a member of Senior Executive Committee. He was a member of Licensing and Disciplinary Committee of Auditor General’s Office, representing Capital Market Development Authority. He has undertaken various specialized training relating to Capital Market, Pension, Monetary Policy and Risk Management. Mr. Muznee received his MBA in Finance and Banking from Limkokwing University of Creative Technology, Malaysia and Bachelor of Business Management degree from the University of Mysore, India.
Mr. Abdulla Ali

Mr. Abdulla Ali joined MPAO Board in February 2017 as a senior member from Civil Service representing Ministry of Finance and Treasury. Mr. Abdulla Ali has been working as the Director General of Resource Mobilization and Debt Management Division of the Ministry of Finance and Treasury since September 2014. He joined the Ministry in July 2012 as a consultant working at the Economic Policy Planning Section. Prior to joining the public service, he worked in the private sector. Mr. Ali holds a Master’s Degree in Economics from Eastern Michigan University
Ms. Aminath Shifana

Ms. Aminath Shifana joined MPAO Board in March 2017 as a senior member from Civil Service representing the Social Security Sector. She is currently the Permanent Secretary at Ministry of Gender and Family.
Ms. Aminath Shifana started her career from Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1999 as a Desk Officer (Trainee). She has worked in Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 1999 till 2010. During her tenure in Foreign Ministry she has worked in Research Section, Administration Section & Human Resources Section. When she resigned from Foreign Ministry she was Deputy Director of Human Resources Section. She has also worked in Civil Service Commission from 2010 till 2011 as an Assistant Lecturer and contributed to the establishment of Civil Service Training Institute. Prior to her appointment as Permanent Secretary she was working in Auditor General’s Office as Head of Corporate Services Department, whereby she has immensely contributed to the development of the organization. Shifana holds Master of Management (2007) from International Islamic University Malaysia and B.Sc.(Hons) Business Management (2004) from University of Wales.
