Ms. Athifa Ali
Ms. Athifa Ali joined Pension Office Board in June 2019 as the Chairperson of the Board. She currently holds executive post as Director Corporate Services at Dhiraagu (leading telecom operator in Maldives). She has over 19 years of managerial experience in key areas of finance, business development, and strategic management.
Ms. Athifa holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Bradford, UK. & is an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), UK. She has previously served in the Pension Office Board as the Board Chairperson from 20th August 2009 to 19th August 2012 as well as from 20th Aug 2014 to 19th August 2017.
Public Sector Representatives
Ms. Shifaza Wajeeh
Ms. Shifaza Wajeeh was appointed as a board member of the Maldives Pension Administration Office on 24th February 2020, as member representing the social security sector. She has been working at the National Social Protection Agency since its inception in 2008 and currently works as the Director General and the Head of Civil Servants at NSPA.
Prior to NSPA, she worked at the Social Security Section under different ministries, and participated at different levels in the development of Social Health Insurance Scheme, Social Cash Transfer Programs, Reform of Retirement and Old Age Basic Pension Schemes and the Disability Act. She has also served as a board member in the National Social Health Insurance Scheme Board from 2015 to 2017 and Waste Management Corporation.
She holds a Bachelor of Economics (Honours) from Help University, Malaysia and a Master’s Degree in Development Studies from The University of Sydney, Australia.
Ms. Fathimath Abdullah Kamaaluddeen
Ms. Fathimath Abdullah Kamaludeen joined the Pension Office Board on 4th March 2020 as a member representing the Securities Market Regulator. She currently holds the post of Deputy Chief Executive Officer of CMDA and undertakes the responsibilities entrusted by clause 10 of the Maldives Securities Act (No. 2/2006) and assists the Chief Executive Officer of CMDA to implement the strategic efforts of the Authority and attain greater heights to the Maldives capital market. As the Deputy CEO she primarily oversees and coordinates the functions of the Market Development Department and Information Technology Department.
She served as the Director General for Market Development of CMDA and has engaged in various strategic and policy level initiatives of the Authority. During her tenure at the Authority, she has also undertaken the role of the Board Secretary and Manager of CEO Secretariat, mainly engaging in strategic level activities and managing the Authority’s international and media relations. She has over 5 years of experience in various aspects of the Capital Market.
Ms. Fathimath holds a Masters in Management (Finance) from the University of Melbourne (Australia) and a BBA in (International Business & Management) from Northwood University, Michigan (USA).
Ms. Maryam Abdul Nasir
Ms. Maryam Abdul Nasir was appointed to the Board of the Maldives Pension Administration Office for a second term on 21st April 2021 as a member representing the Ministry of Finance. Ms. Maryam served as a member of the Board for the past 3 years since 28th March 2018.
Ms. Maryam holds the position of the Chief Debt Management Executive of the Ministry of Finance, since April 2021. She joined the Ministry of Finance in October 2009 and during the past 8 years she has held several senior positions at the Resource Mobilization & Debt Management Department of the Ministry.
Ms. Maryam holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Open University Malaysia.
Private Sector Representatives
Uza. Laila Manik
Uza. Laila Manik joined the Pension Office Board in June 2020 as a member representing the private sector. Ms. Laila currently holds the position of Vice President, Legal, and Compliance at Atmosphere Core Pte Ltd. She is also the Director and the Company Secretary at the Mauritius Commercial Bank Maldives Private Limited.
In the past 14 years, Ms. Laila has served in the Private sector and at the Ministry of Tourism Arts and Culture in the capacity of a Lawyer. She has further gained extensive experience in the legal field and has represented business and banking areas.
Ms. Laila holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of London, UK.
Mr. Abdul Haleem Abdul Latheef
Mr. Abdul Haleem Abdul Latheef joined the Pension Office Board in March 2021 as a member representing the private sector. Haleem is currently the Managing Director of Crowe Maldives Advisory Pvt Ltd. He engages in strategy, operations, valuations, investments, risk and financial planning consulting. He is also a member of the academic committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Maldives.
Having served as CFO of the National Pension Fund, setting up administration and investment management operations and developing the finance team he joined the financial services industry in 2018.
Started his career as an academic in 2000, he worked for the Bank of Maldives as Deputy CFO, MCB (Maldives) as Head of Corporate Banking and for Solarelle Insurance as Deputy CEO. He also served in the Governing Board of Maldives Red Cross as the treasurer from 2015 to 2018.
He engages in research on Maldives economy, financial system and social security and publishes papers on local newspapers and is a regular contributor to Maldives Economic Review.
He is a graduate of University of Wollongong, Australia and a Chartered Management Accountant holding membership with CIMA (UK).
